Women's Soccer to Host La Roche in SemiFinal Round of AMCC Tournament

FROSTBURG, MD — For the third year in a row, the Frostburg State women’s soccer team has clinched the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference crown and will host No. 4-seeded La Roche in the semifinal round of the tournament Wednesday, November 2 at Bobcat Field.

The Bobcats are 10-5-2 overall and 8-0-1 in the AMCC, while the Redhawks are 13-2-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the league.

The two teams met on October 18 where FSU won 2-1. The Bobcats have only lost one regular season AMCC game in the last three years. During that spand, FSU has allowed just one goal.

Frostburg State has won nine of its last 10 games, with seven coming by shutout, while La Roche has won seven of its last nine games, including six by shutout.

Junior Danielle Carter (Rockville, Md./Rockville) leads the Bobcats with 10 goals (seventh in the AMCC) and 21 points (ninth in the AMCC). Sophomore Jen Naylor (Riva, Md./St. Mary's) is second on the team with seven goals and 16 points.

Sophomore goalie Molly Whyte (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) ranks second in the AMCC in both goals against average (0.66) and save percentage (.851). Whyte also ranks fourth in the AMCC with three shutouts this season.

The Redhawks are led by Nicole Jacobs who has 11 goals, 11 assists and 33 points on the year. Nicole Booth is second with nine goals, five assists and 23 points.

La Roche keeper Tracy Simms leads the AMCC with a 0.39 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

The winner of Wednesday’s game will play in the Championship round and face either No. 2 Penn State Behrend or No. 3 Pitt-Greensburg November 5 beginning at 2:00 pm.
