Men's Basketball Upended by League Rival Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, PA — All five Pitt-Bradford starters scored in double figures as the Panthers handed visiting Frostburg State a 78-66 defeat Saturday afternoon at the McDowell Sports Center.

Pitt-Bradford won its 10th straight game to improve to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, while the Bobcats fell to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Sophomore Aaron Kiffer and junior Matt Rowles scored 16 points each, while senior Matt Beacom (13), senior Doug Schneider (10) and sophomore Brian Hobbs (10) also hit double digits.

Senior Pierre Bowery (Kensington, Md./Einstein) led Frostburg State with 17 points, while senior A.J. Ernst (Minster, Ohio/Minster) added 14 points, five rebounds and five steals.

Freshman T.J. Dorsey (Round Hill, Va./Loudoun Valley) scored a career-high 13 points.

Frostburg State held a 16-11 lead before Pitt-Bradford went on an 8-0 run to move in front.

The Bobcats hit a three-pointer to forge a 19-19 tie, but the hosts sank a jumper to take the lead for good.

The Panthers held a 34-28 lead at halftime and extended their advantage to 58-46 midway through the second stanza.

FSU closed to within 65-59 with 5:28 left, but UPB used a 10-0 run to seal the victory.

Frostburg State will look to even its league record when it visits La Roche on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
